Score 89+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2004

Subdued but nuanced nose combines yellow fruit liqueur, flint and honey. Firmly built, with bright framing acids. Less pliant today than the old-vines village wine and in need of a few years of aging. The flinty aroma shows up as a petrolly quality in the mouth.

The supple, light to medium-bodied 2002 Chassagne-Montrachet Embrazees exhibits a nose of lively minerals. This satiny-textured, pure, deep wine is packed with apples, spices, and pears. It is rich, fresh and structured yet fruit-forward. It should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel.
