Score 86/100 · Drink 2005, Robert Parker, Aug 1999
Many readers will enjoy the 1997 Rosso di Montalcino even more than the score might suggest. A soft wine, it will need to be drunk over the next 4-5 years to take advantage of its delicious, obvious strawberry and cherry fruit. New saddle leather and subtle earthiness also put in an appearance. Round, with low acidity, excellent purity, and an open-knit, expansive personality, this medium ruby-colored wine is Burgundian-like in its forwardness and emphasis on cherry fruit.
