2009 Greysac

One of the best wines from this property, which established itself in the American marketplace 30 years ago, this blend of 58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest the other two well-known varietals, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, is soft, round and generous, with loads of berry fruit, some licorice, roasted herbs and spice box. It is a very attractive, supple wine to drink over the next 5-7 years. (A member of the Association of Crus Bourgeois du Medoc.)

Dark and refined on the nose then surprisingly soft and gentle on the palate. It's all there and in harmony, with a long, fresh finish. Tight and well mannered. (JH)

58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Refined dark fruit is both ripe and savoury, and more elegantly fragranced than many. Definitely more nuanced. Chewy but fully ripe tannins. Dense but not heavy and leaves your mouth fresh. Well sustained and finishes nicely dry. (JH)
