A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Smoky nose. Still very fresh and rich. Potent berry and cherry flavours give way to a slight nuttiness and chocolate undercurrent. Medium body, firm structured tannins.

The 2012 Beauregard is an attractive, open-knit wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet red berries, mint and crushed flowers are nicely delineated in the glass. Ideally, it would be nice to see a little more depth, as the Beauregard offers only modest intensity. Overall, this is a gracious style of Pomerol.
From an historic estate in Pomerol dating back to the 18th century, the 2012 Beauregard (70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) is a successful effort. The wine is dense ruby/purple and shows loads of licorice, blackcurrant and black cherry in a dense, medium to full-bodied very pure, rich style. This is somewhat of a sleeper of the vintage in Pomerol and very noteworthy. This should drink well for 10-15 years.

Named after its founder, Bernard Beauregard, this property is one of few Pomerol addresses to have an actual château – here a stately 18th-century construction designed by the man behind Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre.
