Mid crimson. Meaty nose. Quite tart palate. Mid weight. Quite fresh. Stingy finish. Slightly austere, though long. Unusually for a right bank 2002, I was less impressed by this in bottle than en primeur when I gave it 16.5 points and noted its well managed tannins. (JR)

This was a very good performance for a 2002 Pomerol. A delicious, up-front effort, it offers sweet cola-infused black cherry fruit with hints of herbs and smoke in the background. Medium-bodied with a plush mid-section, ripe tannin, and a fine finish, it will be at its best between 2004-2012.
Bluish crimson with a watery rim. Very gassy nose. Young, quite delicate fruit on the palate and some real savour. Tannins exceptionally well managed. Dry but not aggressive tannins on the finish, Bravo! Very good combination of natural assets and user-friendliness. (JR)
Complex aromas of earth, berries and chocolate follow through to a full-bodied palate, with soft, round tannins and a lightly smoky finish. Nice wine. Best after 2007. 3,330 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2005
About the producer
Named after its founder, Bernard Beauregard, this property is one of few Pomerol addresses to have an actual château – here a stately 18th-century construction designed by the man behind Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre.
