Bolaire is an unusual property, as Petit Verdot is the most widely planted variety on the estate. The 2012 is nicely nuanced, with pretty floral and savory notes that meld into to a core of blue/purplish-hued stone fruits. Delicate and lifted in the glass, the 2012 delivers terrific quality for the money in a medium-bodied style best enjoyed over the next few years. This is one of the very best wines readers will find in its price range. The final blend is 50% Merlot, 37% Petit Verdot and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Always one of the better values in any Bordeaux vintage, Bolaire’s dark ruby/plum-colored 2012 is easygoing, consumer-friendly and seductive, with blueberry and black cherry fruit in a medium-bodied, clean, fresh style. Tannins are light and unobtrusive, and the wine is delicious. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
