The 2008 Château Gracia is one of the wines of the vintage. Possessing an explosive nose of ripe blackcurrants, truffles, spice box, and dried herbs, this beauty hits the palate with beautiful amounts of fruit, a deep, opulent texture, notable freshness, and a finish that won’t quit. This is a brilliant 2008 that dishes out tons of pleasure. It’s drinking great today yet certainly has another 10-15 years of longevity, probably more. Don’t miss this beauty!

The 2008 Gracia has a ripe and generous bouquet with black cherries, boysenberry, fig compote and a touch of sage. It is not complex but I admire the definition. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet red fruit and yet the tannins feel edgy and a little angular, so that they don’t quite fit together. I would like more synergy here between the constituent parts. There is a welcome touch of spice on the finish but I was expecting more. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting.
Tasted blind. Blackish garnet. Light nose with a leafy suggestion. A bit like fermented blackcurrant fruit gums... Not very subtle with notable acidity. A bit hollow. (JR)
Very intense. Smells like New World Cabernet! Sweet and luscious with a dry, so far unintegrated, finish. Hint of green on the end. (JR)
