The 1996 Doisy-Daëne has a mellow nose, moderate complexity, nicely focused and pure with barley sugar, light adhesive scents, jasmine and yellow flowers. The palate is well balanced with tangy marmalade and quince, fine acidity, quite sharp and penetrating with an edgy, very citrus-driven finish, orange rind and mango mixed with saline notes on the aftertaste. A little uncompromising, but at the same time, compelling. Tasted at the vertical at Doisy-Daëne.

This is a stylish, mineral-laden, moderately sweet wine with mid-weight, honeyed complexity, and a fresh, lively finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
Lightish greenish deep yellow. Sweet almondy nose. Very full and complete and confident palate. Very impressive though with quite a bit of tang from the vintage. Far from the sweetest. (JR)

About the producer
This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
