Tasting notes
Mid ruby – VERY evolved-looking for a 1985. Sweaty, rather ‘Australian’(!) nose. Sweet and round and easy though very spirity. Not fine. A bit of a kick in the backside rather than a mellow experience. (JR)

This house tends to make a good port and sell it at rather reasonable prices. The 1985 has a heady perfume of sugary fruit, sweet, soft, medium-bodied flavors, good concentration, and an adequate finish. It suffers in comparison with the major ports of 1985 but is not at all bad.
Ruby red, with a garnet edge. Aromas of plum, cedar and custard. Medium-bodied and medium-sweet, with a medium finish. Fading. Turning to a simple tawny. '77/'85/'97 blind Port retrospective. Drink now. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 2008
