Killer notes of ripe black fruits, mint, wildflowers, and smoke tobacco all emerge from the 2009 Clos Saint Julien. This still youthful, lively 2009 is full-bodied and delivers a rounded, expansive mouthfeel, still present tannins, and a rock star of a finish. This is one seriously good Saint-Emilion that's still 2-4 years away from full maturity, and it's going to drink nicely for another 15-20 years. Bravo!

A gorgeous nose of spring flowers, blueberries, crushed rocks and wet steel is impressive and very intense. The wine exhibits density, richness, full-bodied power and gorgeous texture with perfectly integrated acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood. This is a beauty and probably the best wine ever made at this estate. It should drink well for 20-25 years at the very minimum. The best wine ever from proprietor Catherine Papon-Nouvel, this equal part blend of old-vine Cabernet Franc and Merlot, cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare, has 14.5% natural alcohol.
