The 1962 Climens has a very pure bouquet of dried honey, beeswax, walnut and clementine aromas; this bottle is easily the freshest I have encountered. The palate is taut and fresh, presenting notes of almond, peach, fig and quince and a slight nuttiness that develops with time. I have encountered this 1962 three times before, but I have not met an example as good as this one. Superb. Tasted at "Xmas" lunch in London.

Dark orange with a greenish tinge. A bit more decayed than Zubair Mohamed, whose birth year this is and who is tasting with us. Big and glucose-like. Losing focus. Big and voluminous with some burnt notes on the end. Just a bit of decay. (JR)

Beginning to deepen in color and take on an amber/golden color, the 1962 Climens must certainly be the best Climens of the sixties. A fragrant, roasted bouquet of melted caramel and brown sugar sauteed in butter is captivating. On the palate, the wine has rich, luscious, unctuous flavors that have remained crisp and lively because of good acidity. It is a worthy challenger to the d’Yquem in 1962. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/85.
