Ruby-red. Black cherry and licorice on the nose. More typical medicinal black cherry in the middle palate. In a chunky style, even a bit brutal today. Finishes with serious, somewhat tough tannins.

(a blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% merlot) Good full medium ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, licorice and roasted oak. Sweet, fat and stuffed with fruit; quite broad for the chateau and for the vintage. Sound acids and big, spreading tannins give this solid wine plenty of underlying structure. Represents a rather strict 40% selection, made up largely of juice from old cabernet vines planted on gravel around the chateau.
