Score 87/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

Tasted at the Académie du Vin dinner in Bordeaux, this was not known as a favorable Left Bank vintage, but the 1964 Batailley puts in a creditable performance. It has an attractive cedar and sandalwood-scented nose with dusky black fruit disappearing over the horizon. The palate is crisp with citric acidity. It is not as complex as other Batailley wines from this era, although it has a pleasing if conservative tobacco-infused finish that hurries out the door. Drink now. Tasted April 2014.
