The 1971 Chateau Gilette Creme de Tete has a slightly muffled nose at first, but it begins to clear with rigorous aeration. It eventually reveals scents of dried honey, dried white flowers, a touch of curry powder and marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly viscous entry, nicely balanced with orange rind and spice. This is nicely focused, with just the right amount of nuttiness to leave a dry taste that begs another sip. This is a fine 1971, although the 1967 is better. Drink now-2020+. Tasted March 2014.
