Tasting notes
The generic 1997 Barolo is a delicious, forward, approachable effort to consume over the next 7-8 years. Revealing amber and pink at the edge of its color, it is an expansive, sweet, sexy example with overripe cherry, cedar wood, licorice, smoke, and tar characteristics. Round and supple, it is best consumed over the next 6-7 years. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 334-6700, and Estate Wines, Ltd., San Rafael, CA; tel. (415) 492-9411
