Minerally nose, light and almost lean but certainly fine textured. I suspect this would have tasted better a few years ago. (JR)

Score 86/100 · Drink 1989-2000, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

Thanks to the efforts of administrator Philippe Cottin and winemaker Patrick Leon, the quality level of Mouton-Baronne-Philippe began to rise with this vintage. The 1985 is a creamy-textured, fat, lush, lovely wine with a seductive, rich fruitiness, precocious personality, and low acidity. It is gorgeous for drinking over the next decade. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 1/89.
