Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2009-2018, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2006
Bright dark crimson. Something a little indistinct on the nose. Competent. Good shape and structure but the fruit itself lacks a certain vitality and certainly depth. Raw finish. (JR)

Clos Rene's 2001 lacks weight, but makes up for it with a charming personality. Sweet caramel, crushed berry fruit, herb, and spice characteristics along with medium body, ripe fruit, and an attractive finish are found in this pleasant, straightforward wine. It should be drunk young. Anticipated maturity: now-2010.

Soft, gentle, well balanced. Very, very slightly dull but respectable balance. (JR)
