Musky nose hints at menthol, smoke and peppery spices. Fresh and mineral-driven; not particularly big or concentrated but with good richness and complexity to the flavors of pepper, minerals and white flowers. Finishes firm and classically dry. Niellon seemed to be puzzled by the wine's peppery, spicy note, which he says he also found in the 2004 Chaumees. He has a theory that the source of this element is a new shrub that has appeared in recent years in the woods above the village.

(malo done; sulfited) Bright, green-tinged color. Intriguing aromas of stone fruits, gunflint and wet stone. Supple and fat with fruit, with a discreet stony aspect as well as a slightly heavy honeyed quality. I don't find the precision or minerality of a classic vintage, but this boasts very good length.
