Tasting notes
Very deep red-ruby. Alluring scents of raspberry, plum, truffle and leather. Sweet, plush and seamless; not hugely fruity but rich for the vintage and not lacking for freshness. The red plum and redcurrant flavors are complicated by a truffley quality and a note of chocolate. Finishes quite long, with thoroughly buffered tannins and a bit of warmth. This is evolving slowly.

Medium red. Seductive, highly nuanced nose combines strawberry, raspberry, coffee, underbrush and sandalwood. Supple, broad and sweet, with lovely concentration of fruit, spice and mineral flavors. Still a bit youthfully unevolved but boasts a creamy roundness rare for the vintage. But then this is always a sexy bottle of wine. Finishes with fine, horizontal tannins. Will reward four or five years of aging but won't injure your palate if you pop a bottle early.
Domaine Arnoux is widely acknowledged among experienced observers as issuing the definitive standard for Suchots and the 2001 will only add to that much deserved reputation. Elegant, wonderfully spicy nose with round, intense, superbly focused flavors that completely coat both the structure and stain the palate. This is flat out beautiful juice and highly recommended.
Candied red cherries and raspberries can be discerned in the wonderful aromatics of the 2001 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots. Satin-textured and medium-bodied, it bastes the palate with lovely red cherry fruit. Fresh, pure, and structured, this wine possesses a long, well-endowed finish. Projected maturity: 2005-2012.
