Subtle aromas of clove and menthol. Firmly structured but quite closed; the wine's elements are currently a bit disorganized. Not yet showing much texture, but offers very good intensity and a taut structure for the vintage, not to mention sneaky length. The longest of this Domaine's '99s to this point. I was also able to taste this wine's two components separately. The spicy Murger was thick, deep and tactile, while the Casse Tête showed a stonier, more incisive nose, sharp focus on the attack, and a long, pure, minerally aftertaste.
