Billaud-Simon's 2011 Chablis is quite rich in this vintage. A broad-shouldered, ample wine, the 2011 opens up beautifully in the glass, showing considerable depth and fat. Hints of almond, hazelnut and dried pears linger on the creamy, expressive finish. There is a lot to like here, but my overall impression is that the 2011 is built for near-term pleasure, so I would not wait more than a few years here. I can't imagine that will be too much of a problem considering how delicious the wine is.

Pale yellow-green. Lime and a whiff of white flowers on the nose. Juicy and supple, offering moderate flesh and concentration to its citrus and floral flavors. Finishes with solid minerality but comes across as a bit metallic and dry today.
Salty and stony, attractively dusty. Not much depth but again pretty long – complete contrast to up-front wines, this is all on the finish. (JH)
The soft, pretty side of the year comes through in Billaud-Simon's 2011 Chablis. This is an especially polished Chablis that should drink well pretty much upon release. Floral, minty notes add lift on the delineated, classy finish.
