Very rich and bumptious on the nose. Pretty light and easy. Unforced with just a light kiss of tannins on the finish. Attractive drink. (JR)

Bright ruby-red. Liqueur-like black cherry, blackberry and minerals on the nose, complicated by a suggestion of Indian spices. Juicy, firm and sweet, with good intensity to the moderately complex flavors of crushed dark berries, fruitcake, bitter chocolate and graphite. This pliant midweight boasts good spine but has also put on flesh since I tasted it in barrel. Finishes with serious, dusty, spreading tannins.

A super effort from Stephan von Neipperg's estate, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc was cropped at 32 hectoliters per hectare, and achieved 13% natural alcohol. Copious aromas of spice box, toast, white chocolate, and espresso roast are found in this modern styled St.-Emilion. However, its plushness, rich, concentrated fruit, purity, texture, and overall hedonistic and intellectual appeal are undeniable. Drink it over the next 7-10 years.

Bright ruby-red. Reticent aromas of blackberry and licorice. In a leaner, rather austere style, with some spice but modest flesh and sweetness. Hard to taste now, and a bit dry on the back.
