The top five Pomerols from J.P Mouiex (Certan d May, Providence, Hosanna, La Fleur Petrus and Trotanoy) are absolutely terrific in 2011. Hosanna is the most reticient with a raspberry leafy nose but the middle is full of gobs of fresh, sappy fruit. Seamless from middle to end. Really bright.

The 2011 Hosanna has a gentle, lilting bouquet with brambly red fruit, peppercorns, pencil box and a touch of crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly peppered entry, fine tannins, a little rigid at first though it loosens up with aeration. Cohesive with hints of dried blood on the aftertaste, this is a decent showing, and it does improve in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Mid garnet. Heady, opulent nose. Rather drying finish though. Some exotic spicy notes. (JR)
Spice and sweet tobacco aroma. Smells cedary and fresh. Lively, juicy, a little bit sour on the palate and eye-watering at the end but may come round. (JH)
About the producer
Château Hosanna is a relatively young wine label in Pomerol, but one with some of the richest heritage in the entire region. It couldn’t be better situated with Château Lafleur to the north, Vieux Château Certan to the south and flanked on either side by Pétrus and Château Lafleur-Pétrus.
