Tasting notes
Like the Hill of Grace, very early maturing. Low-key, non-intense nose that gives the impression of having almost reached its peak. Some metallic hint. Full-blown. Very charming and all in balance but too forward to be a great wine. (JR)

Exhibiting mint/eucalyptus is the compressed, medium-bodied 1997 Shiraz Mt. Edelstone. This well-made, pure effort possesses red and black fruits, surprising acidity, and a lighter style than I would have expected from such a famous winery as well as renowned wine. Drink it over the next 5-8 years. Importer: Negociants, USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993
Deep red-ruby. Flamboyant aromas of creme de cassis, soy sauce, roasted meat and exotic spices. Lush, supple, sweet and quite concentrated, with an almost jammy ripeness and a suave texture. Finishes ripely tannic and long, and yet I detected a slight bitter edge to the flavors.
