(15.5% alcohol): Full, deep ruby. Highly nuanced nose offers scents of blueberry, pepper, espresso, mocha, smoke and rocks. Dense and savory in the mouth, showing a slightly roasted, liqueur-like character but also good energy to its black fruit and dark chocolate flavors. There's a strong gravelly quality running through this wine from the nose to the seriously tannic finish. May be entering a dumb phase.

(15.5% alcohol): Deep, saturated ruby. Brooding, slightly roasted aromas of black fruits and exotic flowers convey a late-picked character. Sweet, sappy and densely packed, showing surprising energy following the nose, with very ripe black fruit, chocolate and mineral flavors offering good definition and lift. Finishes quite long, but with the chewiest, least refined tannins of the 2010-2012 trio, and the least sweetness on the back end.
