Tasting notes
Bright red. Fresh strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with subtle floral and garrigue nuances adding complexity. Displays Burgundy-like precision and sweetness, with light to medium body, fresh red berry and cherry flavors, silky texture and a long, sappy finish. Has the balance to age but drinks well today. Those who demand size and obviousness will find less excitement here than I did.

The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape was much stronger from the barrel. Soft and light, with tasty black cherry, pepper, seaweed, and earth-like notes, the bottled wine is elegant, but stripped and eviscerated with a short finish. How disappointing! Deep red. Striking red berry, spice and floral aromas suggest a top-notch Vosne-Romanee. Pure, silky and sweet, with deep, sharply focused raspberry and strawberry flavors, dusty tannins and a finishing mineral note. This offers superb clarity and length, and has the structure to age.
