Mostly Merlot with small amounts of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2008 Château Puygueraud is solid stuff, offering lots limestone-like minerality, notes of mature fruits, chocolate, and leafy herbs, medium body, and elegant, polished tannins. It’s fully mature and drinking great today and should keep for another 5-7 years or so. It’s an impressive wine from the Francs region of Bordeaux.

This straightforward, pleasant wine offers sweet black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of licorice and herbs. Consume this easy-going effort over the next 2-3 years.
About the producer
The Thienpont family bought Ch. Puygueraud in 1946, running it as a farm until the 1980s when Nicolas Thienpont moved the focus to viticulture, with the first vintage in 1983. Based in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, the property comprises 47 hectares of vines, both red and white.
