Tasting notes
The 1986 has continued to improve since I first tasted it in cask. The deep ruby/purple color, enormous bouquet of smoky oak, exotic spices, and plummy fruit of the 1986 suggest that it can be drunk immediately, but the tannins in the finish indicate this wine will be even more stunning with several years of cellaring. An interesting, unique, and satisfying wine! Anticipated maturity: Now-2003. Last tasted, 2/90.

An attractive, powerful, supple wine for long aging. Deep ruby color and spicy berry aromas. full-bodied with vanilla and rich chocolate flavors. Almost drinkable now. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1989
