Very classic and beautifully assembled. Plum, damson. Medium weight with very polished tannin. Losts of space in the fruit suggests that in 10 years this will be an absolute beauty of near-First Growth level. Very aristocratic but will ultimately be a supremly useful claret...which isn't something you can say about every 2010.

The deep ruby purple 2010 Leoville Las Cases offers notes of blackberries, blueberries, cedar, plums and violets, supported by layers of flavours that are so rich and dense right now that they have little definition. This is a classic but massive Leoville Las Cases with such a thick layer of tannins that it won't be drinkable for at least a decade. The evident substance behind the tannins suggests that while it is not approachable at the time of tasting (en primeur), it may follow other classic and glacially-evolving Las Cases vintages like 1986 and 1990 by eventually surprising us all. This is a wine with alcohol of 14% - the norm is 13-13.5% - and a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Jeannie Cho Lee MW asianpalate.com

Leoville Las Cases A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc represents 36.7% of the harvest. The wine reached 13.7% alcohol, which is l0wer than the 13.8% level recorded in 2009. Opaque purple in color, this big, concentrated, thick wine is stuffed with ripe cassis and fresh blackberries. Powerful, tannic, ripe, fresh and dense, this masculine wine requires serious cellar time to become civilized. 95-96 Pts Jeff Leve winecellarinsider.com

With its mulberry-purple complexion, this full-bodied acidic hiding-place of sensations is cautious to reveal itself. Even with 13.7% alcohol, the darkest fruits, subtle spices, black olives and pungent game are present somewhere on the mid palate. An aftertaste of yeast and minerals remain for a while with something reminiscent of an older fashion of St Julien. This backward cub will crouch a lot for years, then lose its shyness, gain vigour and be a lion before 2040. Ivor Davies
