Blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from a 77 ha estate situated in the commune of Cussac, just to the south of Saint-Julien. Planted on Garonne gravel soils, the vines are 25 years old and fruit was fermented in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Matured in small oak barrels for 18 months. TA 4.85 g/l, pH 3.81, RS 0.9 g/l. Warm, ripe and perfumed on the nose and then pretty chewy tannins. Not graceful but a whole load of impact on the palate and not expensive in view of the evolution. Just a bit rusty on the end. (JR)

Loads of berry fruit intermixed with some roasted herbs, spice box and licorice can be found in this excellent Haut-Medoc, which has medium body, lots of fragrance and very pure flavors. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. (A member of the Association of Crus Bourgeois du Medoc.)
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot. Subtle dark crimson. Leafy nose. Solid, dense, chunky tannins. Ambitious even if not the most charming. (JR)
Blackish crimson. Low-key nose with rather electric fruit. Very firm fruit. Serious stuff with real spine. Well done! (JR)
