Always a delicious wine from proprietor Pierre Bourrotte, the 2005 Bonalgue (primarily Merlot) is medium to full-bodied wine and rich, with plenty of black cherry and kirsch-like notes intermixed with truffle, mocha, and licorice. Lush and heady, this is a wine to drink now and over the next 10-15 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

Green and grassy on the nose. Quite lip-smacking ripe fruit on the palate with very notable sandy tannins. Just a bit uncomfortable at the moment. Massively oaked and therefore quite tannic. (JR)
