Tasting notes
Score 90/100 · Drink 2008, Robert Parker, Oct 1998

This wine exhibits a Medoc-like personality, with notes of black currants, cherries, lead pencil, and pain grille. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied, elegant, and complex, with hints of tobacco leaf, fruitcake, and cedar. This savory, spicy, well-endowed wine should drink well now, and over the next decade. There are 5,000 cases of the dark ruby/purple-colored 1996 Abadia Retuerta. A blend of 65% Tempranillo, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot, this offering is aged in an assortment of French and American oak, of which 50% is new, and is bottled unfiltered. Congratulations are in order for this impressive new winery that is already turning out wines of exceptional quality. Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel.
