A spectacular value from highly renowned winemaker Ben Glaetzer, the 2004 Shiraz/Grenache Wallace (70% Shiraz from 65-year-old vines and 30% Grenache from 90-year-old bush vines) was aged 12 months in neutral 300 liter barrels, primarily American. An expressive nose of ground pepper, sweet cherries, raspberries, currants, and loamy soil scents is followed by a wine of great intensity, power, elegance, and definition. Big nose that shows both red and black fruits with some earthiness, spice and black cherry coming through with air. Medium to full bodied with nice acidity and a clean finish.
(made from 70% shiraz from 65-year-old-vines and 30% grenache from 90-year-old bush vines) Bright-rimmed violet. Smoky, sexy aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry and candied cherry, with complicating licorice and dried rose tones. Quite sweet, showing a ripe creme de cassis flavor along with notes of raspberry and mocha. Plush, supple and sweet, the blackcurrant flavor lingering nicely on the finish.
