From the estate now owned by the Dourthe empire, this 2012 Rahoul is a straightforward, somewhat underachieving wine with a deep ruby/purple color, tobacco leaf and spice box, but not much texture or fat. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
80% Sémillon. Very nice combination of richness and struck-match suggestion. Very cool and fresh – and more youthful than most. The palate suggests that the grapes were picked relatively early for this is still tense and crisp. In fact there is more than a hint of the Hunter here! (JR)
Hint of exotic fruits on the nose of this. Then some appetising minerality on the palate. Very slightly skinny finish but this criticism is to split hairs. Exciting and correct. Fan of green fruit flavours on the finish. (JR)

With a long history stretching back to the 17th century, Ch. Rahoul is part of the powerful Dourthe group. Spread over 40 hectares, the property produces both red and white wines.
