Score 93-95+/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2014
The 2011 Barolo Capalot hits the palate with a rush of black stone fruits, plums, cherries, menthol, cloves and tobacco. A deep, dense, explosive wine, the Capalot is built on resonance and volume. Sadly, Voerzio lost his lease to the vineyard, so the 2011 will be the last vintage made from this site. At press time, Voerzio was not sure the Capalot would be released commercially.
