Score 90/100 · Drink 2002-2010, Robert Parker, Dec 2002
Supple-textured, complex, and elegant, the 1999 Alte di Altesi was fashioned from a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged one year in French oak, of which about 50% is new. Its opaque dense ruby color is followed by abundant quantities of sweet kirsch liqueur, leather, plum, fig, and weedy tobacco aromas. Succulent and fleshy, this hedonistic, surprisingly complex red will drink well for 5-8 years. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
