Tasting notes
The 2012 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Alpilles is one of the more youthful and unevolved in this retrospective. Ripe cherries, blackberries, Provençal herbs, and a hint of sandalwood all flow to a medium to full-bodied, still tight, yet pure and balanced red that has fine tannin and a great finish. Reminding me of a slightly lighter weight 2005, give bottles another handful of years and enjoy over the following decade.

Gently leafy on the nose then quite stemmy and fresh on the palate. Firm, chewy and a complex mix of leafy graphite, sweet red fruit and hint of meatiness. Deliciously firm and fragrant and promising. (JH)
