Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Haut Batailley actually had a very similar bouquet to the Batailley, though there is more red fruit here with a subtle scent of Tuscan delicatessen emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, a pleasant chewiness on the entry, solid and armed with commendable presence, even with some sinew on the finish. Sure, it is a bit rough around the edges, though it is probably the best example of this particular wine that I have tasted. Tasted February 2017.

Here that leafy note is slight and makes an inviting, scented first impression. Cassis leaf freshness. Very attractive lightness of touch that suits the vintage. Harmonious and fully resolved with a nice dark note on the relatively long finish. (JH)

Rather luscious ripe fruit and open. Not the driest nor the most concentrated but neat and well balanced with some friendly fruit in the middle. (JR)

Leafy, graphite charm on the nose but a bit green on the palate – though the tannins are smooth and the finish is fresh. Fresh but a bit lean. (JH)
