Tasting notes
Hotter year than 2007. Everything was good (cf 2007). Blackish, very intense purple colour. Smells so young and callow! Such a baby!!!!! Lots of tannin and the fruit is still bubbling up underneath. A little hot underneath. Quite dry on the end. Inky but very promising. If 2007 seems Graham style, the 2011 seems more Tayloresque. (JR)

Liquorice, black pepper, leather and black cherry. Lovely incense spice. Savoury, appealing in youth – but full of almost immortal promise too. (RH)
Lighter in body than most 2011s, which is a deliberate house style. As far as port can be, this is delicate and fragrantly spiced. A port for summer! (RH)
(21% alcohol): Bright dark ruby. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and licorice are accented by pepper and mineral notes and complemented by a superripe balsamic quality. Fleshy and voluminous, showing exotic sweetness to its round, deep, very ripe blueberry and licorice flavors. Finishes with big, plush tannins and excellent length, but the wine's ripe acidity and minerality give it a youthfully aggressive edge that calls for a decade or more of aging. Great potential. An outstanding vintage for Ferreira, following an excellent 2007.
