Still owned by the Ferreira family, who sold to Sogrape in 1987 (nearly went to a multinational). Pale ruby. 'A very elegant year like all the sevens', says Luís Sottomayor. Sweet and comfortable on the nose. Fully evolved nose, less intense than the 1917 and 1847. Again, very clean and fresh! Polished. Smooth and jewel-like. (JR)

This house is terribly underrated when top ports are mentioned. Their vintage ports tend to lack a bit of complexity and sheer majesty of aromas, but they do offer rich, robust, concentrated flavors of chocolate, spices, and deep, plummy fruit.
