Tasting notes
A stunning bottle that showed rich, clean Grenache fruit, spice and tar aromas on the nose. The palate is medium to full bodied, beautifully textured with fine gained tannins on the long finish.

As for the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve, the fruit is slightly sweeter and it is more layered, but I am not sure it is any more complex than the Les Olivets. The fruit seems deeper and blacker in character, but all the notes of Provence are present in this wine. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565
Medium red. Ripe, meaty nose shows a roasted dark fruit character. Exotic and dense, with slightly hot flavors of cherry and plum, with an exotic note of dried apricot that lingers on the finish. Big and rich to be sure, but showing the heat of the vintage.
