Quite dark crimson. Less opulent nose than the 1995 – a bit stern on the nose but lovely lively fruit and lift on the palate. Firmer than the 1995 but not worse. Very clean and fresh. See the 2002 note. Great value for £13.95. Apparently only 28% of production went into the grand vin this year so this may explain just why this wine is such good value. £13.95 Caves de Pyrène (JR)
