The 1978 l’Eglise-Clinet can be variable in quality, this vintage made by the administrator at the time, Pierre Lasserre. It has a rather under-ripe beetroot and soy scented bouquet that at least provides a modicum of freshness. The palate is medium-bodied and tart on the entry, rather austere like many 1978 Right Banks with an enervated finish that suggests it ought to have been consumed many years ago. Drink up folks. Tasting note taken from the Pomerol book by Neal Martin.

The 1978 is fully mature, with a chocolatey, somewhat smoky, fruity bouquet. It is a soft, round, moderately concentrated wine that is pleasant, but lacks a little weight and richness. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/85.

About the producer

Ch. l-Eglise-Clinet - producer
l'Eglise Clinet

Ch. l'Eglise-Clinet is one of the most unassuming wine estates in Bordeaux. You'd probably drive past it if you didn't have prior knowledge of its vinous output. There's no ostentatious gateway nor sweeping gravel drive.
