The 1966 l’Eglise-Clinet is a vintage that I have fond memories of, Denis Durantou opening it for my young daughter when we visited his winery. It is the only occasion that I have tasted the 1966. The nose was surprisingly generous with prune and Christmas cake aromas, a hint of dark chocolate all swathed in some volatile acidity. The palate is medium-bodied, rather hollow and mean, rather a disappointment after the promising aromatics. Any bottles should be consumed now as I suspect all but large formats are of curiosity value only. Tasted at l’Eglise-Clinet with Denis Durantou.

About the producer

Ch. l-Eglise-Clinet - producer
l'Eglise Clinet

Ch. l'Eglise-Clinet is one of the most unassuming wine estates in Bordeaux. You'd probably drive past it if you didn't have prior knowledge of its vinous output. There's no ostentatious gateway nor sweeping gravel drive.
