Tasting notes
Dark ruby. The 1999 Parussi is a medium-bodied Barolo with macerated cherry, menthol and licorice nuances. Though it offers good length it finishes with aggressive, potent tannins that seem out of place, knocking this wine off balance. Perhaps another few years in the bottle will help smooth some of the edges.

The 1999 Barolo Parussi, from a vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, is floral, resinous, and chocolaty on the nose. It offers good fruit and tar on the palate in a medium-weight format, but the wine is less ample and the tannins a bit drier than other two Barolo’s in the line. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
Bright medium red. Aromas of plum, redcurrant, iron and tobacco; considerably more complex than the '98 version. Richer and chewier than the '98, with more density and underlying structure. Slow-mounting, ripely tannic finish boasts lovely sweetness and persistence.
