Tasted at Château Rauzan-Gassies. The 2006 Croizet Bages, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, has a rather monotone nose that needs more personality and more expression of its terroir. It is slightly oxidized on the nose. The palate is sweet on the entry with slightly coarse tannin, abrasive in texture with a slightly acetic finish. The 2005 appears to be ageing better and I would drink this sooner rather than later. There is disappointing after the decent 2005 Croizet Bages. Tasted June 2015.

Aromatic with a hint of greenness but not too much so. Very nicely balanced and attractive – gentle. This doesn't seem marked by 2006's shortcomings (excessive acid). Excellent balance. Though a little forward. (JR)
Very dark crimson. Some seaweed on the nose. Loose and soft. Not especially Pauillac but a perfectly respectable early red Bordeaux. Airline wine? (JR)
Very dark crimson with a developed rim. Light nose with an odd metallic note. Then gentle and easy on the palate – rather enveloping and cosy like a comforter. Sweet start and there’s no hiding the slight astringency on the finish but all sculpted to deliver minimum harassment. Quite a bit of life and lift. Just that very slight green streak lets it down. Bit messy finish. (JR)
