Tasting notes
Ruby-red. Intense red fruit aromas are underscored by a stony tone, along with strong graphite and iron qualities. Lush and sweet, with cherry preserve and raspberry flavors deepened by tobacco and succulent herb notes. Finishes sweet and juicy, with excellent focus and length. An impressively balanced wine that should repay cellaring.

Bacon fat, black olive, crushed rock, and flower characteristics emerge from the 2004 St.-Joseph Les Granits. This elegant, medium to full-bodied offering reveals fine acidity in its stony-flavored personality. It should drink well for a decade. Importer: Paterno Imports, Lake Bluff, IL; tel. (847) 604-8900
