Score 90/100 · Drink 2002-2008, Robert Parker, Dec 2002

The outstanding dense ruby/purple-colored, intense 1998 Terre Brune is produced from the oldest Carignan vines and spends 18 months in French oak. A big nose of saddle leather, sweet and sour cherries, black currants, and earthy underbrush scents is followed by a dense, rustic, rich, distinctive Sardinian red. It's not for everybody, but will provide pleasure over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
