Score 89/100 · Drink 2009-2012, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Dec 2009

The NV Brut Rose is a relatively round, supple Champagne with an attractive core of fruit. The wine offers excellent length and lovely overall balance, if not quite the pedigree of the house’s finest wines. Disgorged: February, 2009, (not indicated on the label). The NV Brut Rose is also produced from vineyards in the Sezanne, with 60% Pinot Noir vinified saignee-style and 40% Chardonnay. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012. This small estate works predominantly with fruit from the famed village of Mesnil, with the exception of the entry-level Extra Brut, which is made from vineyards in the Sezanne. The NV Brut Rosé features generous, candied red berry fruit buttressed by chalky minerality on a full-bodied frame. This is a structured, intense style of Rosé that will offer its finest drinking at the dinner table. Charlemagne's NV Rosé is made from a saignée of 100% Pinot Noir and sees 10 grams of dosage. Here too, the wine is impeccably balanced.
