Score 92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
Complex, soil-inflected aromas of redcurrant, cranberry, mint, nutmeg and earth. Big and creamy, but also intensely flavored and penetrating. Offers excellent backbone but seems a bit less full and deep than normal for this cuvee-no doubt a function of the '93 vintage. Impeccably balanced Champagne. Steely lemony acidity became more apparent with aeration. Finishes very subtle and long.
